Monarch Teacher Network
The Monarch Teacher Network (MTN) is a growing network of (prek to 12th grade) teachers who have received training to use monarch butterflies to teach a variety of concepts and skills, including our growing connection with other nations and the need to be responsible stewards of the environment
Journey’s and Transformations – The Monarch Butterfly Story DVD? This amazing production was created by and for the Monarch Teacher Network. The 28 minute DVD tells the story of the monarch: its life cycle, migration, connection to people and cultures of North America and broader environmental implications.

Here is what some people are saying about it:
· It is more useful and scientifically accurate than the Nova presentation on PBS “The Incredible Journey of the Butterflies.”
· Although purposely focused on younger people it appeals to all age groups and while retaining intellectual integrity, is emotionally engaging as well.
· What an awesome video. I bought a copy for all of my children and grandchildren.
· It is a great teaching tool for people of all ages, challenging people to work together for a sustainable future.
To purchase a DVD send a check or money order (Made out to EIRC – Global Connections) for $9 ($5 for the DVD and $4 shipping and handling – we can send up to 4 DVDs for the $4 shipping and handling costs) to:

· The change in Monarch Workshops from three days to two worked so well we have decided to go with this change for our future workshops. This will enable the project to reach more people and hopefully make it more enticing to teachers home on summer break.
· The Monarch Teacher Network just completed a Leadership meeting comprising people from Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, and Ontario Canada. This dynamic group of workshop leaders brought their experiences and enthusiasm to together to help decide how best to grow the MTN program in both scope and where does the work go next. Not only are we taking the Monarch workshop to new States and schools but we are also creating a new and interesting programs on Climate Change along with expanding our Voices from the Land project.
