Safe Dates
This effective, research-based program is designed to help students recognize the difference between a healthy relationship and an abusive relationship and in turn lessen abusive dating behaviors among teens. The Educational Information & Resource Center (EIRC) has partnered with the MVP Center at Willingboro High School and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's New Jersey Health Initiatives to implement the Safe Dates program to help the students not only become aware of what an abusive relationship is, but how to remove themselves from an unhealthy relationship or help a friend who is a perpetrator or victim of abuse. It is our desire to provide a place where teens can learn how to use school and/or community resources to maintain healthy relationships.
Safe Dates helps teens more clearly define what a healthy relationship is and what dating abuse is. It helps teens understand the causes and consequences of dating abuse, key ways to prevent dating abuse from happening and to help teens be safe as they develop healthy relationships with friends.
