Day One
Professional guest artists give workshops in five areas of art (Creative Writing, Visual Arts, Dance, Drama, and Music). Students are given one area of choice and the Symposium staff assigns a second. After obtaining new skills in these five areas, students are brought together while guest artists present examples of their own work and discuss their own professional training. The scenario is given to students during the last part of day one. Scenario group meetings are held where students meet in pre-assigned, multi-district groups to introduce each other, discuss prop needs and begin work on scenario resolution.
Day Two
Symposium staff announces dress rehearsal assignments and distributes group supplies. Groups continue to resolve the scenario task presented on day one, integrating all five art modes in a balanced manner. Scenario groups practice on-stage according to the pre-announced schedule. Student groups formally present their work onstage to each other and to invited parents, college and local school representatives and press officials.
