FOUNDATION DESCRIPTION

EIRC was founded in 1976 and is a public agency with a Local Education Agency (LEA) status.  The LEA status positions the EIRC to be eligible for additional grants working with public school districts and/or higher education institutions, as well as developing inter-local agency agreements with public and governmental entities.  In addition, EIRC has a 501(c)(3) educational foundation status.  This foundation will hold the charter for the Science and Technology Education Center.  The Board of Directors reflects the blending of the corporate world and the education world.

FOUNDATION MISSION

The EIRC Foundation mission is to enhance the educational, social and emotional needs of youth by assisting schools through partnerships with other organizations, resource sharing and grant seeking activities for programming, professional development and innovative ventures.

Monarch Teacher Network - Geraldine Dodge Foundation Funded

The Monarch Teacher Network™  is a growing network of (mostly prek-8) teachers who have received training to use monarch butterflies to teach a variety of concepts and skills, including our growing connection with other nations and the need to be responsible stewards of the environment.

Donor support provides:

  • Scholarships for teachers to investigate Monarch migration in the field
  • Expansion of the Monarch Teacher Network

Making Visions Possible – School Based Youth Services Program– State of New Jersey, Department of Children and Families

The New Jersey School Based Youth Services Program (SBYSP) was initiated by the New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS) in 1987 to help young people navigate the adolescent years, finish their education, obtain skills leading to employment, and graduate healthy and drug-free. The SBYSP is a joint collaborative between the Willingboro High School, Center for Family Guidance, EIRC and the Willingboro community.

Create Sustainable Schools – Corporate, Federal, Foundation & Private Donor Funded –

The NJ Sustainable Schools Consortium (NJSSC) is a network of prominent leadership organizations in education, industry, and non-formal environmental education organizations working together to educate key stakeholders on the best sustainable practices, technologies, and green curriculum that will help lower the operational costs of schools, create healthier learning environments, and promote academic achievement.

Challenger Vision
The vision for EIRC is to construct a center that can be utilized as a regional hub to raise student academic performance, enhance  teacher professional development, and motivate students to pursue  careers in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. The Center will be a critical regional resource that will inspire students to become the next generation of leaders and innovators of the global workforce.
