Fall Gathering at Cape May Point,  New Jersey on  Saturday, Sept 21   9:30 am to 2(?)pm:

We are planning to hold the 2013 Fall Gathering at Cape May Point on Saturday, September 21, 2013.  Traditionally, the PEAK period for monarch migration in NJ with lots of hawk and songbird migration as well.  The 2013 Fall Gathering offers the chance to explore Cape May, a world-famous migration site… and to socialize/share knowledge with people who share the same passions… to celebrate the autumn season, and all that we in MTN have accomplished together.  Everyone and anyone is invited to attend the Fall Gathering,…which will be self-guiding.   Join myself and other MTN members and families at 9:30am as we gather at the Lighthouse at Cape May Point State Park and I will plan to be at the parking area/picnic area near Cape May Lighthouse State Park around 9am.  We will take a walk along the nature trails at the park so meet at the pavilion near the bird watching platform at 9:30am.  After the walk we will look for any lingering monarchs in their potential roosting sites.  It will be an interesting year to see if the monarch numbers have grown after a dramatic drop in their numbers last winter in the Mexican colonies.  We plan to meet back at the lighthouse parking lot at 12:30pm for lunch – possibly along the beach or in a pavilion.  Wear a monarch t-shirt so we know you.  Bicyclers (if you bring a bike) can bike from the parking lot at the Lighthouse to Pavilion Circle Gardens and look for monarch roosts along the way.
